To test our method and software operating system, we turned to the spine

Why the spine?

What to look for

With Dr. Burgio (the founder's) medical and research background, he thought about and selected the most complicated and functional area of the body that he could think of - the spine and spinal column.

What to look for

A common explanation of low back pain is (spinal) degenerative disc disease. There are four levels of DDD and it is widely accepted that the condition takes decades before it causes a problem.

What literature suggests

Young asymptomatic spinal patients, with no history of back issues or pain. Mean age was 37-years-old.

What literature suggests

What literature suggests

What literature suggests

According to previous research studies, our spinal experts expected to find 1-3% of our asymptomatic patients would have degenerative disc disease

What we actually found

What literature suggests

What we actually found

12% of referred spinal patients had degenerative disc disease. This indicates that our zero bias research methodology and computerized system is more  accurate than we predicted.

Who can benefit

What literature suggests

What we actually found

60% of the world's population and 45% of active United States military will suffer from spinal injuries. The earlier we can detect this condition, the more we can prevent surgery and opioid use later.
